    Journey News:

What are your dreams for Journey? Might they include:

      • A permanent home?

      • Connections to socially involved ministries?

      • Continued partnership with the St. Stephens community?

      • Financial stability and flexibility?

We are at a very exciting time in our journey together as a community of faith and witness. St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church is planning a new church building at their present site. The new building will house not only their worship center, but will also be a high rise with apartments for mixed economic levels and office space for a variety of social service agencies. St. Stephen’s wants Journey to be included in these plans.

For 15 years St. Stephen’s has been a gracious host for us. We have a wonderful downtown location with them. One way that we can say we value this relationship is to buy a share of the building. We have been invited to own a “piece of the rock” and to do so requires us to buy a minimum of 100 square feet at $185 a square foot.

You math whizzes will have already figured out that this is a total of $18,500. Our goal is to have a 200 square foot Journey Catholic Room in the new building. This would be enough room for a workspace, small group meetings, housing musical instruments and files. Doubling the square feet would cost us $37,000.

Impossible? Maybe not. This is how we can participate as Journey members and friends. We can each pledge our support to buy a square foot or more at $185 each. You can:

    1) Send in $185 for each square foot you want to support.

    2) Pledge $185 for each square foot you want to support and make monthly payments in a way that works for your budget.

    3) Send in the $185 immediately for each square foot you can support now and pledge for any other square feet for which you can make monthly payments.

The present building will be torn down in 2007. During construction, St. Stephen’s and Journey may worship at the First Unitarian Church, SW Main and 12th.

When the new building is finished we will have our own room, a new worship space, underground parking, and a chance to participate in a vibrant urban ministry.

We hope you agree that this is an exciting vision of our future. Please help make this dream a reality.
