    Community: Koinonia

The Community gathers for Eucharist every Sunday at 6:00 p.m. at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, on the corner of S.W. 13th Ave. and Clay streets in Portland.

The Sunday gathering is the central act of the community life of Journey Catholic Community. An important part about our community life is the commitment to excellence and vitality in the celebration of the Word and Eucharist. Toward that end, the team of preachers and presiders submit to ongoing critique both before and after their assigned times to serve, and commit to continued serious study and preparation time. Lectors and cantors are also proclaimers of the Word and spend the time necessary to prepare for the telling of the stories of faith from the scriptures.

The Eucharistic Prayer is shared and proclaimed by the whole Assembly at Journey. We sing the Prayer during the seasons of Advent/Christmas, Lent and Easter, and share spoken prayers during Ordinary Time.

The spirit of Journey Catholic Community is deeply rooted in the music. Musical leadership is equal in importance to all other forms of proclamation of the Word. We believe that one of the most important sources of our study of what it means to be church are the texts of the songs we sing. The role of the choir is to lead, support, and encourage the assembly in song. Music is essential to our community life.

    Join the choir!

It is never too late to join the fun! Journey Choir is open to all who wish to be part of this exciting ministry. If you are interested in joining the Music Ministry at Journey, come to practice, held every Sunday at 5:00 p.m. at St. Stephens.
